Teacher — The Toughest Job of All

Image
By Moqheeta Mehboob Working within any system is never easy. Every profession comes with its own pressures and downsides. Yet, I can say with confidence that teaching is one of the most challenging professions of all. You may disagree with me—and that’s fine—but allow me to explain why. I speak from personal experience. I have spent years in the classroom as a teacher, living through the daily realities, deadlines, emotional demands, and silent battles teachers face. Those years shaped me deeply. Today, as a School Development Director, that experience gives me the insight to guide both school owners and teachers on what needs to change and how to correct systemic mistakes. If someone works with machines and tools, the pressure is still real—but predictable. When you work with human beings, and especially with young, impressionable minds, the nature of the work changes entirely. You are not just “doing a job”; you are shaping lives, identities, and futures. Across the world, the percen...

CHILDREN TEACH CHILDREN

Children Teach Children — A New Model  of Responsibility  and Contribution Last year, for the very first time,  Edutop launched a groundbreaking program called  Children Teach Children  — where children stepped into the role of teachers to help other children learn. What made this initiative unique was that  the young teachers themselves  paid  to participate. Why would a teacher pay to teach? Because the purpose was deeper than just literacy. It was about  instilling seriousness, responsibility, and commitment  in the child who was taking on the role of a mentor. Each child was  trained on how to teach , how to  share their skills with patience and clarity , and how to  value the act of giving .   This Year — A Stronger, Wider, More Impactful Version Under the leadership of Moqheeta Mehboob , Edutop is now preparing to launch the second edition of the program — this time with a focused mission: Fluent youn...

Call for Empathy in Schools

Image
Call for Empathy in Schools Ms. Moqheeta Mehboob I did my schooling from a central school, Kendriya Vidyalaya — a school with a very high reputation. Decades have passed, but I still remember a particular incident. I must have been no more than five or six years old. I remember a sunny morning, the assembly, the stage, the teachers — and the shame. I don’t remember the reason or the lesson taught that day, but I distinctly remember the stares of more than a thousand students and around a hundred teachers. A few of us were made to stand on the stage as a form of punishment. I also remember, somewhere around the same age, walking home from school in tears. I was burning with fever, but at that tender age, I couldn't make sense of what was happening and resorted to crying. A Yezdi bike slowed down beside me. A man — a staff member from my school — asked me what was wrong. I couldn’t explain. He offered me a lift, and I pointed him to my house. He dropped me at my gate and even peeped ...

10 Golden Survival Tips Every Teacher Should Know

Image
by Moqheeta Mehboob   Have you often heard people talking about the importance of good teachers? They call it the mother of all professions . Indeed, a very highly respected and noble title. We have also seen the government, NGOs, school managements, and other private organisations tirelessly working towards teachers’ professional development. This is definitely required — and Edutop works extensively on bringing quality to educational organisations. But it firmly and equally believes in the importance of a healthy teacher . Edutop has this mantra: Healthy teacher = Healthy teaching. In this little article, I have focused mainly on the human side of the teacher, and not the professional side. There are plenty of helpful articles by Edutop that talk about classroom management, lesson planning, student engagement… but this article is only about having a healthy and happy teacher. Read it and apply it in your life. It will surely bring a considerable difference to your health. Healt...

Children Teach Children – Program Report An Edutop Summer Initiative | May 1st – 31st, 2025 Overview: The Children Teach Children program was launched as a unique summer initiative by Edutop , aimed at making learning more engaging, meaningful, and peer-driven. Unlike conventional models where children receive help from adults, this program flipped the script— children became teachers to fellow children . The idea, though unconventional, was met with surprising enthusiasm and success. Program Concept: The program welcomed all school-going children to participate as either teachers or learners . Each teaching child selected a subject area they were confident in—mainly Literacy (reading fluency, comprehension, vocabulary) or Numeracy (core operations, word problems)—and were matched with younger learners based on grade levels. The goal was to develop confidence, improve clarity of understanding, and nurture leadership skills—while creating a more relatable, age-friendly ...
