1. Overview
The Teachers’ Growth Program (TGP) was developed by Edutop as a tailored teacher training initiative to support and enhance the professional development of Kenyan teachers. This program was crafted in response to the evolving educational landscape in Kenya, particularly with the implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and the need for dynamic, reflective, and student-centred teaching.
This online program brought together aspiring and practicing teachers from Kenya, offering a platform for learning, reflection, collaboration, and skill-building.
2. Objectives of the Program

To familiarise teachers with Kenya’s current education system (CBC and the 2–6–3–3 model).

To empower teachers with effective teaching strategies and classroom tools.

To support teachers in lesson planning, classroom engagement, and differentiated learning.

To highlight the importance of warm-ups, play-based learning, and storytelling in pedagogy.

To build confidence, creativity, and critical thinking among educators.

To encourage continuous learning through assignments and follow-ups.
3. Program Structure

Mode: Online (via Zoom)

Duration: 45 days
Format: Interactive sessions, group discussions, Q&A, follow-up assignments

Support: Reading handouts, feedback loops, WhatsApp group for updates
4. Topics Covered

Understanding the CBC – Shift from 8–4–4, structure, key features

Classroom Management – Managing behaviour, routines, engagement

Multiple Intelligences – Using Howard Gardner’s theory in classrooms

Lesson Planning – SMART objectives, Bloom’s Taxonomy, CBC alignment

Warm-Up Activities – Purpose, types, planning relevant warm-ups

Play-Based Learning – Role of play in early childhood and primary

Circle Time – Building emotional connection, listening skills, classroom bonding

Storytelling as a Teaching Tool – Using stories across subjects for deeper learning
5. Assessment & Certification

Certificates of Active Participation were awarded to teachers who engaged actively and completed all tasks.

Certificates of Completion were given to those who attended but showed limited engagement.
6. Program Impact
